Ilaria Del Monte

Ilaria Del Monte was born in Taranto in 1985. She grew up in Montescaglioso, a town a few kilometers from Matera.

Bio

Born in Taranto in 1985, she grew up in Montescaglioso, a town a few kilometers from Matera. From an early age she showed particular enthusiasm for drawing and music. At the age of 11 she entered the Conservatory of Music in Matera, where she studied piano until the age of 16, after which, attending the Liceo Artistico, she decided to devote herself to drawing and oil painting. He later moved to Milan, where he graduated in Visual Arts at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2010 he has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions.

In 2011 her first solo exhibition of only drawings and an oil painting entitled Vento dal Nulla (Wind from Nothing) was held in Venice and she was selected among the finalists for the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, followed by another solo exhibition, Window’s Tales, in Como, at the Roberta Lietti Gallery. In 2012, in Berlin, she exhibited Boarding Pass, a solo show of small paintingsThe following year, in Milan, Quando Teresa si Arrabbiò con Dio, an exhibition curated by Martina Cavallarin, and in 2014, at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan, she opened Out of This World. In 2015, it will be Varese to host Sussurri, curated by Alessandra Redaelli, at Punto Sull’Arte Art Gallery. In 2017, again at Antonio Colombo’s in Milan, he held You May Not Believe in Magic, and in 2019 he exhibited in his hometown of Matera with Spazio Vitale, a solo show curated by Ivan Quaroni. He has exhibited in group shows abroad, including Russia, Korea, Belgium and Germany.

Collective exhibitions and awards include the Credere la Luce prize, in 2019, residency at the Giulianova Museum of Art and Splendor, and the Marina di Ravenna Prize-Residence, at Museo M.A.R in Ravenna; Ten Women’s Soul, at Liquid Gallery in Capri; in 2017 Un’Altra Realtà, at Castel dell’Ovo in Naples; she is present at the 56th Venice Biennale with the event Italia Docet Laboratium.
