KRAYON

Krayon is an Italian pixel artist born in Melfi (PZ) and based in Rome.

Bio

After studying industrial design and graphic design, he developed a personal language with which he has distinguished himself for years. The pixel is the basic element on which he builds his works with patience and precision. In his works emerges the design scheme and the management of the image in its complexity. He has always been influenced by the classical-scientific arts, from Seurat’s neo-impressionism to Vasarely’s optical art. During his artistic career he has painted for many festivals such as Vedo a Colori (Civitanova Marche), ManuFactory (Comacchio), Blue Flow (Ventotene), Streetart Wine Fest (Marsala), In wall we trust (Airola). In 2015 he creates TEXTURA in fest, the first street art festival in his hometown. In 2018 he is hosted in Shenzhen by Jardin Orange as a resident artist and his works are exhibited during the Shenzhen International Art Fair and Hong Kong Affordable art fair. Krayon’s technique uses the language of pixels and is made by hand on large walls or small canvases down to 1 mm pixel detail. The Melfi-based artist uses mostly liquid paint and brush, in some cases preferring hand-cut stencils. The phase of transferring the digital project to a physical medium is anticipated by dense preparatory work in which mathematics plays a leading role and a careful study of the dimensions of the medium.
