Momart Gallery is pleased to announce a new solo exhibition “When Sound Becomes Gesture” with a
vernissage on October 24, 2026, by Berlin-born artist Katja Pudor.
In her work, Katja listens to music while drawing in real time, her body becoming the medium itself, a living resonance that echoes Nietzsche’s vision of sound’s power, tying it to myth, raw emotion, and the Dionysian forces surging beneath culture’s every aspect.
Katja Pudor’s work is always about approximating the intensities that arise from the interplay
between perception and reproduction. Her writing-drawings reveal more about the intensity of
perception, which translates from the realm of hearing, understanding, and feeling into the act of drawing itself. This act resonates with Jean-Luc Nancy’s idea of “stretching” (Ausdehnung in
German), which defines the human spirit’s mode of being, an extension toward the other, the world,
and shared existence. Through such listening, we encounter what lies beyond ourselves,
transforming passive viewing into a spectacle.
The event features curation and music collaboration by Unur Antezza, with artistic direction by Monica Palumbo.
